Project Overview
Hotels require a quiet and comfortable environment to provide guests with a better stay experience. Noise from adjacent rooms, corridors, and other areas can easily travel through walls and ceilings, affecting guests’ sleep and comfort.
For this hotel project, Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) was used in the wall and ceiling soundproofing systems to help reduce noise transmission and create a quieter environment for hotel guests.
Soundproofing Solution
The project incorporated Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) into the hotel room wall and ceiling assemblies. MLV was installed together with acoustic insulation, light steel framing, and gypsum board to create a multi-layer soundproofing system.
As a high-density, flexible soundproofing material, MLV increases the mass of the building assembly and provides damping performance, helping reduce airborne sound transmission through walls and ceilings.
Wall Soundproofing
Mass Loaded Vinyl was installed within the hotel room wall assemblies and combined with acoustic insulation and gypsum board.
This layered construction helps reduce sound transmission between adjacent rooms and improves the overall acoustic performance of the partition walls.
Ceiling Soundproofing
MLV was also incorporated into the ceiling soundproofing system to help reduce noise transmission from surrounding areas.
Combined with other acoustic materials, the MLV layer provides additional mass and damping, helping create a quieter indoor environment.
